Can I ask a waiter for vegan french toast if it's not on the menu?

I could bring a recipe... They have really good french toast but I eat as little diary as possible so I was wondering, do you think I could ask for vegan french toast if I gave them a recipe so they could see how to prepare it without eggs and milk?
