Is it ok to be funny whwn I'm suppose to be scary?

Ok, I was pondering last night about a thing my friends family does during halloween called "The Haunted Yard". I play as the butcher and as I'm in my butcher shop, I do my thing and scare people. But sometimes all I do is make them laugh because I crack jokes and I'm naturally a funny guy, not a scary guy. Is it ok to be funny instead of being scary? Or could I do a mixture of both? I know it's weird to ask out of season, but it was kinda bugging me.
