Are coin resources more valuable than dollar resources?

It's not a stupid question, although I think you would want to phrase it differently. Coins are less expensive over time than paper currency. Although they cost much more each to manufacture, they last far longer in circulation. Converting all paper money to coins would save the US billions. But it won't happen.
